Moving Into Winter with Motion Graphics

With the universally-positive feedback from the first Festival of W the previous year, FoW 23 was a sure thing and to be loaded with even more exciting inclusions. Slated for 16 days of pure wintery bliss headlined by an audio-visual display curated by Mandylights, the community of Wagga Wagga welcomed visitors from all around to once again celebrate the wonderful art, cuisine, and diverse culture of the region.

To complete their new-look festival branding, including a series of illustrations depicting the main aspects of the festival, Wagga Wagga City Council once again sought my involvement to create a snappy, scroll-stopping pair of animations to generate a buzz on their socials. I was asked to pitch an idea that incorporated their new illustrations into two animations. I proposed a playful sequence that made use of match cuts and seamless transitions to showcase their new branding and create the desired impact.

With the two animations amplifying their social media campaign, the second Festival of W (FoW 23) turned out great crowds of both locals and visitors, and was broadly considered a massive success. So much so that Wagga Wagga City Council followed through in 2024 with the same brief (and new illustrations), and we made a similar splash with the FoW 24 animations.
