Animating Assets for a Day of Family Fun

Warm Spring weather, family fun vibes, and local food and entertainment to draw in locals and visitors alike - it’s the City of Wagga Wagga’s Spring Jam down at the Botanic Gardens. The Council approached me to help them animate their event assets and create a few animated videos to boost their social media campaign and inspire some extra creativity and excitement for the day. I’ve worked with many of the fantastic people within the council on previous projects, so when I connected with the Visitor Economy and Events team, we didn’t waste any time getting to work.

The brief for the project outlined four social media videos and a suite of animated assets to include in their website, and since the assets were all ready to go, I was able to jump straight into the studio and get busy animating. The designs provided by the client were vibrant with rich foliage, character-filled animals and charming objects all representing the great atmosphere of the festival, so I followed the same direction with my animation, creating simple movements designed to loop so they could easily fit within a collage of assets.

With the animated assets ready and the videos all collated, some royalty-free music was all it took to complete a successful social media campaign that connects to their website featuring the same assets and style. Spring Jam was an amazing day and the team still uses the assets on their website to this day with minor tweaks each year to keep them up-to-date.
